Oh Those Crazy Marzens

I am still around! I finally finished the Malazan Book of the Fallen series. I thought the Crippled God was an increadible finish and wish Erikson would keep pumping out things from that Universe. I suppose I will have to move on to Ian C Esslemont soon. Luckily, the first book I saw when I went into Barnes and Noble yesterday was "The Forge of Darkness" by Steve Erikson, which covers the events that "broke" the Tiste Andii so many years before the Malazan series. I also picked up the first three books of Glen Cook's "The Black Company" series. I figure by the time I am threw with them, "A Memory of the Light" will be out and hopefully followed by the next Game of Thrones book, Stormlight Archive book 2 and the next installment of Patrick Rothfuss's King Killer Chronicle series. Sadly, that may be wishful thinking....

Fun Under a Wine Soaked Sun, Hermann Missouri

Malazan Update: I have finished Reaper's Gale, loved it. Although I am not sure exactly everything that happened at the end, I almost wonder if my Kindle skipped a chapter or two? Either way, Toll of the Hounds has started off nicely and now I am almost done with the series, which will be bittersweet....

Also, just took a fun trip to Missouri Wine Country, here is a short write up on it.

Update

I finished The Bonehunters from Steve Erikson and absolutely loved it. I honestly think Steve Erikson's writing (not that it was ever bad) has significantly improved as he wrote the Malazan series. I think the books are funnier, more epic and honestly more entertaining. They still cover such a wide breadth of information and storylines that there are parts that do not seem to fit, but over all, so far most of the stories do eventually loop back into the grand scheme of things. Beautiful books. I am tearing through Reaper's Gale now. Without giving away too much, I can say that I am still not a fan of Karsa Orlang (though his charactor does bring a degree of humor to the story) and the Tiste Edur still seem kind of worthless. I just do not find that race of characters all that interesting compared to the Malazans and other groups of people such as the Crimson Guard and the Grey Swords. Still, I fear I will be sad when I finish the series. Hopefully by then A Memory of Light will be out, also waiting on book 3 of the Kingkiller Chronicles, book 2 of the Stormlight Archive and of course the next A Song of Fire and Ice.

I also have a question for anyone who stumbles upon this blog. What do you think of the Ender's Game series? I have heard it is a quick and excellent read, perhaps I will look there next?
